    Fragile popsongs with female vox.



  • Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe - idem (GB, 89)
    Yes in its almost complete line up of the essential Fragile album.



  • Arabesque - Beyond the veil (NL, 94)
    Dutch complex progmetal, with Lemur Voice's bass/Chapman Stick player Barend Tromp. Recommended!



  • Atomic Opera - For madmen only (USA, 94)
    Highly recommended to fans of King's X or Galactic Cowboys. This album is produced by the Sam Taylor, who is also the producer behind… King's X and Galactic Cowboys.



  • Buckley, Jeff - Grace (USA, 94)
    Great singer with a golden voice. Regretfully the only studio album he made before dying.



  • Chance, The - idem (USA, 93)
    Mini album. Progrock with touches of Saga.



  • Cliffhanger - Cold steel (NL, 95)
    Dutch progband with a very original sound, somewhere between early Yes and Gentle Giant.



  • Creepmime - Shadows (NL, 93)
    Metal with progressif touches. For those familiar with the Dutch progmagazine IO Pages: the band contributed a track to the 1996 sampler.



  • Cross, David - Testing to destruction (GB, 94)
    Great and fascinating album with high energy KC-prog from the former violin player of King Crimson (Starless/Larks Tongues era).



  • Dalbello - Whore (CAN, 96)
    Canadian female singer makes sophisticated poprock with prog touches.



  • Decamps, Christian - Juste une ligne bleue (FRA, 90)
    Solo album of the singer of famous French 70's progressive band Ange.



  • Denis, Daniel - Sirius and the ghosts (BELG, 91)
    First album of the drummer/leading man of Univers Zero (also Art Zoyd member).



  • Downes, Geoffrey - Vox humana (GB, 93)
    Keyboard player of Yes, Asia and the Buggles.



  • Dunnery, Francis - Tall blonde helicopter (GB, 95)
    Sophisticated songs from the voice and front man of one of the most outstanding and adventurous 80's prog bands: It Bites.



  • Egdon Heath - Nebula (NL, 96)
    One of the leading Dutch progressive bands during the 90's. Recommended.



  • F.F.F. - Blast culture (FRA, 91)
    If you like the Chili Peppers or Urban Dance Squad, you should listen to this great funkmetal by the French Funk Federation.



  • Garden Wall - Principium (ITA, 93)
    Italian prog with VanderGraaf/Hammill touches.



  • Halloween - Part One (FRA, 88)
    Muséa release of this French progressive band with a main role for the violin.



  • Happy Family - idem (JAP, 95)
    Japanese weirdos with high energy King Crimsonesque jazzrocknoisefusion.



  • Hittman - Vivas machina (USA, 92.)
    High standard AOR/progmetal.



  • Hooverphonic - A new stereophonic sound specatuclar (BELG, 96)
    Belgian dance with great grooves and fine melodies. Very nice.



  • It Bites - Calling all the heroes - The best of (GB, 95)
    Greatest hits (did they ever have one?) of this 80's prog band.



  • Jansen, Steve & Richard Barbieri - Stories across borders (GB, 91)
    Atmospheric ambient of the drummer and keyboard player of Japan and Porcupine Tree.



  • Jellyfish - Spilt milk (USA, 93)
    Fine progressive US-pop with influences of Queen, Beach Boys and Supertramp. Really like them.



  • Jones, Howard - One to one (GB, 86)
    Third album of this meloprogpoppy singer & multi instrumentalist.



  • Jordan, Marc - Talking through pictures (USA, 87)
    Nice progressive pop, with musical arrangements which from time to time remind of Peter Gabriel.



  • Kong - Phlegm (NL, 92)
    King Crimson meets industrial meets dancemetal meets 20th century classical. Ultimately grooving Dutch band.



  • Marathon (ITA) - Impossible is possible (ITA, 93)
    Italian neo-progressive.



  • Masque - Flesh that understands (ZWE, 93.)
    Swedish melodic and adventurous prog.



  • Moonflower - The real thing (NL, 94)
    Dutch fine poprock with female voice.



  • Nerve - Blood & gold (NL, 95)
    With his latter band Junkie XL Tom Holkenborg has been regarded the Dutch answer to The Prodigy. Here's one of his earlier attempts to underscribe this.



  • Painting over Picasso - Hello (NL, 94)
    Intelligent pop by Amsterdam based British alternative artpoprockers.



  • Present - Triskaidekaphobie/Le poison qui rend fou (BELG, 85)
    Great RIO band with a.o. Roger Trigaux and Daniel Denis from Univers Zero. Two albums onto one cd.



  • PTS - Campaign (NL, 96)
    Dutch melodic progressive.



  • Reed Network, Dan - idem (USA, 88)
    First album of this grooving rockband with funkmetal touches. Includes the hit 'Get to you'.



  • Reed Network, Dan - Slam (USA, 89)
    Second album of this grooving rockband with funkmetal touches.



  • Reed Network, Dan - The heat (USA, 91)
    Third album of this grooving rockband with funkmetal touches.



  • Rongey, Kurt - Book in hand (USA, 91)
    Solo album of this virtuose US keyboard player. Sometimes reminding of Happy the Man/Kit Watkins.



  • Rundgren, Todd - 2nd wind (USA, 91)
    Mr. Rundgren has done very different things. This album can be regarded as more progressive (more in the tradition of masterpieces like Initiation and T.R.'s Utopia).



  • Rundgren, Todd - No world order (USA, 93)
    Pop with progressive touches.



  • Schnell Fenster - The sound of trees (AUS, 90)
    When Split Enz split up, two bands were born: Crowded House and Schnell Fenster. Intelligent quality pop.



  • Shadowland - Mad as a hatter (GB, 96)
    Nice album of British neo-prog heroes Karl Groom and Clive Nolan.



  • Stewart, Dave & Barbara Gaskin - The big idea (GB, 90)
    Former keyboard player of Canterbury epigones like Egg, Hatfield, National Health and Bruford, knows how to use these influences into nice popsongs.



  • Sunday All Over The World - Kneeling at the shrine (GB, 91)
    Beautiful baby born out of the interesting marriage of Robert Fripp and Toyah Willcox.



  • Szekeres, Tamás - Guitarmania (HON, 93)
    Hungarian guitar virtuoso. Yngwie who?



  • Tears for Fears - Elemental (GB, 93)
    Roland Orzabal proves to be the genius behind Tears for Fears. Very nice and beautiful songs, recommended to the progminded.



  • Thinkman - Hard hat zone (GB, 90)
    Hobby band of Rupert Hine - one of the most famous prog producers (Saga, Rush, The Fixx, Camel, Howard Jones). Sophisticated pop, intelligent prog, outstanding production..



  • Tidal Force - Will to power (USA, 93)
    Progressive melodic AOR, yet quite original because of its use of violin, flute and tempo changes.



  • Univers Zero - Uzed (BELG, 84)
    Fine album of this Belgian RIO band, which can be regarded as one of the main representatives of the genre.



  • Univers Zero - Heatwave (BELG, 87)
    The last album of these Belgian avantprogressives - until they showed up with a brand new sublime album in 1999.



  • Waltari - So fine! (FIN, 94)
    Hi-energy-power-groove-metal with a great dose of humour. Includes a cover of The Cure's "A forest"



  • Waltari - Big bang (FIN, 95)
    Hi-energy-power-groove-metal with a great dose of humour.



  • Waltari - Space avenue (FIN, 97)
    Hi-energy-power-groove-metal with a great dose of humour.



  • World Trade - Euphoria (USA, 95)
    Second album of this neo-Yes band. (Even Yes seemed to like them, because they invited front man Billy Sherwood to join them…)



  • Yared, Gabriel - Shamrock (FRA, 88)
    Early album of a French soundtrack & ballet music composer (Betty Blue, Vincent) contains very original compositions. Listen e.g. to the great animal sampled Bach Invention
